{"id":5243,"date":"2011-08-18T17:50:34","date_gmt":"2011-08-18T21:50:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pgm-blog.com\/?p=5243"},"modified":"2011-08-18T17:50:34","modified_gmt":"2011-08-18T21:50:34","slug":"gold-closed-at-a-new-all-time-high-of-usd-1824-90-an-ounce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pgmcapital.com\/nl\/gold-closed-at-a-new-all-time-high-of-usd-1824-90-an-ounce\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold closed at a  New All time High of USD 1,824.90 an ounce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/moneypress.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/buy-gold.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"230\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dear <strong>PGM Blog<\/strong> readers,<br \/>\nToday, August 18th 2011, Gold appreciated with <span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>USD 35.90<\/strong><\/span> or <span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>2.01 %<\/strong><\/span> to close at an all time High of <strong>USD 1,824.90<\/strong> an ounce in New York as can be seen from below chart.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5248\" title=\"Gold Price August 18 2011\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pgm-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Gold-Price-August-18-2011.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"485\" height=\"308\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a title=\"World Gold Council\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gold.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Word Gold Council<\/a><\/strong>, has stated in its report &#8220;<a title=\"Gold Council -Gold Demand Trends&quot;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gold.org\/investment\/research\/regular_reports\/gold_demand_trends\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gold Demand Trends<\/a>&#8221; that the demand for gold has increased substantially, thereby reducing the inventory of gold available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Asian buying and global economic concerns will drive consumption for the rest of the year.<\/li>\n<li>Demand in the second quarter totalled 919.8 tonnes as against the &#8220;remarkably strong&#8221; levels of 1,107 tonnes in the second quarter last year when Europe&#8217;s debt crisis boosted the appeal of the precious metal.<\/li>\n<li>In value, gold consumption went up almost five per cent year-on-year to $44.5 billion the second-highest amount ever.<\/li>\n<li>Central banks&#8217; purchases in the second quarter more than quadrupled compared to the levels in the corresponding period of 2010.<\/li>\n<li>Gold supply was 1,058.7 tonnes in the second quarter, a four per cent decline from 1,108.3 tonnes in the same period last year, as a result of an increase in net purchases by central banks.<\/li>\n<li>The strength of demand in India and China, coupled with an overall drop in recycling activity this quarter, demonstrates that consumers have adjusted to the current price environment and expect the upward price trend to continue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The DOW to Gold ratio depreciated today to almost 6, the lowest level in almost 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Gold is acting as the canary in the coal-mine and is giving us an early warning sign, of the disaster that lies ahead.
